I had no clue about the significance of “Carrot, egg or coffee.” Grandmothers are definitely the wisest of all.
When we encounter challenges, we often want to open up to others about our worries and hardships to feel supported and less alone.
The woman discovered her husband’s infidelity, causing her world to crumble. Seeking solace, she confided in her grandmother. Upon hearing the situation, the wise elder led her to the kitchen. In there, she boiled water in three pots and proceeded to place a carrot, an egg, and some coffee beans into each pot separately.
The granddaughter was perplexed and inquired her grandmother about the situation. The grandmother advised her to remain patient and witness it firsthand.
Later on, the grandmother removed the carrot and inquired her granddaughter about the effect of the water on it. The granddaughter explained that the boiling water made the carrot soft. Simultaneously, the boiling water made the egg hard. The coffee beans, on the other hand, altered the water.
The grandmother then inquired her granddaughter about whether she identified more with the carrot, the egg, or the coffee beans.
Adversities can have different effects on us. Like the water softening a carrot, they can make us more adaptable and empathetic. Alternatively, like the egg, they can make us stronger and more resilient. However, if we choose to be like a coffee bean, we don’t let the situation impact us negatively. Instead, we strive to change it in a way that benefits us and helps us grow.
The granddaughter gained a valuable insight on that particular day.
Which one do you identify with – the carrot, the egg, or the coffee bean?
