9-year-old dies 10 minutes after posing with note – then police spot tragic mistake…
Payton Crustner, a 9-year-old, was supposed to start a new chapter in her life, but tragically, it ended in her death.
Payton’s family decided to capture the beginning of her fourth-grade journey by taking a photo of her holding a sign that said “1st Day of 4 Grade” along with the date. Payton happily posed for the picture, unaware that her life would tragically come to an end just a few minutes later.
Unfortunately, the young girl never made it to school due to a fatal car accident involving her family. The crash occurred when Marcus Wayne Dukes, 18, turned left on the highway and collided with the car driven by Payton’s mother, Miranda, 32. Payton was ejected from the vehicle during the collision and tragically passed away at the scene.
The other passengers, like Miranda and a 3-year-old girl whose name wasn’t known, had minor injuries. Miranda’s son was in critical condition but later left the hospital. Neither he nor the 3-year-old were wearing seat belts.
During the accident, Miranda was wearing a seat belt, while Payton also had one on. However, Payton’s seat belt was a lower one that didn’t secure her properly.
The family set up a fundraising page on GoFundMe to cover the funeral costs, and they were able to collect nearly $18,000.
Payton Lynn Crustner, a 9-year-old girl, passed away this morning before her first day of 4th grade. Let’s keep her family in our prayers.
We deeply apologize for this heartbreaking loss that reminds us of the significance of wearing a seat belt, which is undoubtedly the most crucial safety measure in a vehicle.
