Prince Harry’s pal pops up on Clarkson’s Farm despite Jeremy Clarkson’s vile Meghan Markle column
Prince Harry’s friend Hugh van Cutsem has made an appearance on Jeremy Clarkson’s TV show Clarkson’s Farm despite his vile comments about his wife Meghan Markle
Prince Harry’s friend is set to make an appearance on Jeremy Clarkson’s TV show despite the presenter’s vile comments about Meghan Markle.
One of Harry and brother Prince William’s oldest friends, Hugh van Cutsem will star on Amazon Prime series Clarkson’s Farm. The move comes after Clarkson made sickening comments about Harry’s wife.
Last year, the former Top Gear host launched into an abhorrent rant where wrote that he “hated” the former Suits actress “on a cellular level” and wanted to see her “paraded naked through the streets”.
His misogynistic column was taken down after it received a fierce backlash, prompting him to send an apology email on Christmas day. However, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex responded saying the apology was only sent to Harry. The couple blasted Clarkson for not addressing his “long standing pattern of writing articles that spread hate rhetoric, dangerous conspiracy theories, and misogyny”.

Harry’s former friend Hugh appeared in episode seven of the latest Clarkson’s Farm series. In the scene, Clarkson simply described him as “Hugh” as they went deer stalking. Hugh has known William and Harry all of their lives and has been involved in many royal events. William was senior usher at his wedding to Rose Astor in 2005 and is the godfather of their daughter Grace, while Grace was made bridesmaid at William and Kate’s wedding.
Hugh and wife Rose attended Harry and Meghan’s wedding in 2018. However, after the couple decided to step away from being senior members of the royal family, Rose publicly mocked them. She said: “I am standing back as a senior member of my tax return because I’d rather drink coffee, see my friends, love my family and do yoga.”

Harry later detailed his falling out with Hugh and Rose in his memoir Spare last year. He revealed Hugh’s mother Emilie and one of her four sons that she shared with her husband, also called Hugh, voiced their fury at him taking part in the bombshell Oprah Winfrey interview in 2021. The duke wrote: “Several close mates and beloved figures in my life, including one of Hugh and Emilie’s sons, Emilie herself, and even Tiggy [Pettifer, his former nanny], had chastised me for Oprah. ‘How could you reveal such things? About your family?’”
The van Cutsem family have been close to the royals for years. Hugh’s brother Nicholas van Cutsem and wife Alice asked Prince Harry to be their daughter Florence’s godfather and she was made bridesmaid at his wedding to Meghan. In an extremely foul rant Clarkson wrote a column in December 2022 in which he said that he “dreams of people throwing lumps of excrement at” Meghan.
It came in response to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s Netflix docuseries, Harry & Meghan. In his column for The Sun, Jeremy said how he felt “sorry” for Harry, that he is being “controlled” by his wife and called the royal a “glove puppet”. “At night, I’m unable to sleep as I lie there, grinding my teeth and dreaming of the day when she is made to parade naked through the streets of every town in Britain while the crowds chant, ‘Shame!’ and throw lumps of excrement at her,” he shockingly wrote.
