“This is a lovely place, Robin,” Pamela said, trying to keep her tone light.

“I’m sorry we lied to you, Pamela, but please give Emily a chance to decide how to live her own life. You can’t control her forever, and you can’t protect her from life,” Robin said gently, his eyes sincere.

Pamela was taken aback by his words. She realized that she had been forcing her daughter to be perfect her whole life, not giving her room to make her own decisions.
